Watch Out For Steel Plates On Oakland Avenue

And on Friday, expect traffic controls as inspections are made on the new roadway.

PIEDMONT, CA — Emergency road work on Oakland Avenue between Bonita and Hillside Avenues has been completed.

A section of concrete that appeared to be undermined has been removed, the surface under the roadway has been compacted, and cement has been poured. Crews placed steel plates over the newly poured cement. The plates will be left in place until this Friday morning, Feb. 16, to allow the concrete to cure.

According to the City of Piedmont, normal traffic will be able to flow through the area, but you should drive with care.

On Friday, traffic controls will be implemented to inspect the concrete. If it has cured, the plates will be removed. If it has not sufficiently cured, the plates will be replaced and additional work will be necessary next week.

If you have any questions, call the Public Works Department at (510) 420-3050 during normal business hours.
