Venus Williams, the ninth seed and five-time former champion, dropped her first set to Sweden's Johanna Larsson. She won the last two sets.

LONDON — After dropping the first set at Wimbledon to Sweden’s Johanna Larsson, California native Venus Williams came back to win the match and avoiding what would've been a major upset. Williams, who is seeking her first Wimbledon title in a decade, won 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 on Monday.
The five-time former champion from Lynwood, California, was seeded ninth. Williams has won seven Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal in singles play.
