The morning BART commute was halted Thursday for more than 30 minutes along the Pittsburg / Bay Point, Fremont, Richmond and SFO lines due to police activity.
According to reports, a man allegedly jumped onto the tracks and ran onto Highway 24 at the MacArthur BART station during a police pursuit that lasted around two hours, blocked freeway traffic and shut down trains.
The problem began shortly before 5:30 a.m. when BART learned there was a man on the roof of the station, BART spokeswoman Luna Salaver said.
The man was arrested and BART trains resumed service around 7:20 a.m. Riders should expect delays of up to 40 minutes coming from San Francisco to the East Bay as all the backed-up westbound trains make their turnarounds.
