It's The Holiday Season Remember to Show the People in Your Life that You Care
This article discusses the purpose of the Holiday Season
Since it is the Holiday it makes sense to remind everyone, the real reason for our Holidays. It’s not to spend a lot of money on gifts. It’s a time to acknowledge the people in our life that we care about. It is aka a time to remember there are other people around us and everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. Not just during the Holidays, but all year. This means, your neighbor, coworkers or the homeless person you walk by everyday. Remember many of our children are homeless and hungry in the U.S.
With that said, the people you care for in your life would always like to hear:
I Love You

How could you?
They asked you,
How could you?
But you could not answer
As you were not here.
Why would you?
They asked you,
Why would you?
But their questions fell onto
The world’s deafest ears.
I loved you!
They told you,
I loved you.
But they told you too late,
Through their tears.
I’ll miss you,
They told you,
I’ll miss you.
And in death now
They hold you more dear.
The poem above is by a parent who’s teen committed suicide. For them they waited too long to say “I love you, I care about you.” Parents and teenagers don’t make the same mistake as this parent did.

Remember during the Holidays people can feel lonely and depressed. Suicide is the third leading cause of deaths for children 10 to 18 and drowning is the leading cause of death for toddlers, there are no guarantees. The point is you never know what tomorrow will bring therefore, don’t forget to say something as simple as “”I love you”, to your teenager or parent.
The point is everyone wants to know that people appreciate them and care for them so take the Holidays and tell them. This is the main purpose of the Holidays not gifts. Parent I know you often wonder how to express this to your children or teenagers because often it seems like they don’t hear you when you say it. At the beginning of this article I have a list of how you can express it to your children and teenagers.
