
Ensign Zachary Dahlke, a member of the graduation class of 2013 from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, will deliver the Memorial Day Address. Zachary’s sister, Annie, will sing the National Anthem. Zachary and Annie are from Walnut Creek.
Elected officials who will also speak at the event include State Superintendent Tom Torlakson; State Senator Mark DeSaulnier; Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla; County Supervisors Karen Mitchoff and Candace Anderson; and Pleasant Hill Mayor, Michael Harris.
Color Guard Naval Sea Cadets will open the program followed by veterans’ organizations’ Color Bearers. A firing party will be provided by the Military History Preservation Group. Recorded music will be rendered throughout the program.
Following the program, refreshments will be served and the general public is welcome to attend.
Parking is available at the Downtown Parking Garage and the Terraces office building, both across the street from the Monument.
