PLEASANT HILL, CA — The Pleasant Hill City Council was scheduled Monday night to see early images of the designs of the planned new library. The architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson planned to present the illustrations it has completed during the design development phase of its work on the new library building. The design work was completed last month, according to a city staff report.
The new Pleasant Hill Library will be built on Oak Park Boulevard, immediately east of where the soon-to-be-phased-out 1961-built library has been. The new structure will be paid for with money generated by Measure K's half-cent sales tax approved by voters in November 2016.

A July agreement between the city, Contra Costa County and the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District provides for the new library and some open space off Oak Park Boulevard east of Monticello Avenue. West of Monticello, on the current library parcel, new single-family homes would be built.
The 1961-built library was once the county library system's central headquarters, and at one time also housed administrative services before those functions were moved to Martinez.

Monday night's meeting began at 7 p.m. inside City Council chambers at City Hall, 100 Gregory Lane (at Cleaveland Road) in Pleasant Hill.
