Next Diablo Valley College President Selected

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA —The Contra Costa Community College District announced Monday that
Susan Lamb, former interim chancellor at City College of San Francisco, will be the next president of Diablo Valley College. Lamb was one of four finalists selected from a nationwide search that began in May and she participated in public forums and final interviews earlier this month.
Diablo Valley College has its larger campus in Pleasant Hill along with a newer San Ramon campus and serves more than 22,000 students each semester, district officials said.
Lamb has previously worked within the Contra Costa Community College District at both Contra Costa College and Diablo Valley College, including six years as DVC's vice president of instruction, district officials said.

Most recently, Lamb served as interim chancellor at City College and helped move the school through accreditation issues related to its finances and governance structure.
In January, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges voted to renew City College's accreditation after years of uncertainty following its initial revocation in 2013.

Contra Costa Community College District chancellor Fred Wood said in a statement that he ended up choosing Lamb "because of her deep understanding of the California community colleges and her understanding of both DVC and the district."
"We will benefit from her leadership experience as interim chancellor/president of City College of San Francisco where she successfully led that college through financially challenging times, the restoration of
accreditation, and developed strong partnerships within the community," Wood said.
Lamb said in a statement, "I am so pleased and humbled to be selected as the next president of Diablo Valley College ... I have deep respect and look forward to returning to this great college, and joining my colleagues to transform the lives of our students."
The district will negotiate a contract with Lamb and plans to place an item on the agenda of the district's governing board meeting on Dec. 14 for review and approval.
