Pleasanton To Celebrate Dia de los Muertos

Call for community exhibitions at Pleasanton Library's 5th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration.

PLEASANTON, CA - From the Pleasanton Library: Pleasanton Library is looking for 20 individuals or groups to create and display ofrendas in a special community exhibition celebrating Dia de Los Muertos.

Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to honoring ancestors. In Mexico, neighbors gather in local cemeteries to share food, music, and fun with their extended community, both living and departed. The Pleasanton Public Library’s mission is “start your journey here: discover, connect, share.” Discovering, connecting and sharing in this cultural tradition, the Pleasanton Library will be hosting a weekend long celebration and is asking for your help in creating the displays. This is an opportunity to pay homage to ancestors by creating ofrendas that will be displayed at the library the last weekend of October.

Applications for exhibition space are available at the Pleasanton Library. The application must be turned in no later than Thursday, October 25th. Space is reserved on a first come, first serve basis.
