Threat Closes Diablo Valley College Pleasant Hill Campus

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Diablo Valley College officials will reopen the college's main Pleasant Hill campus Friday after graffiti was found threatening gun violence on campus caused it to close Thursday, March 22, according to the Contra Costa Community College District.

Diablo Valley College police Lt. Ryan Huddleston said the department investigated the threat, but district officials said that investigation found no evidence to suggest a greater-than-usual risk to students or staff.

College officials said on the college's website that the campus was closed as a precaution and that the "safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority."

Police will have a greater presence on campus Friday and counseling will be available for members of the college community. Counseling also will be available on a limited basis during spring break, college officials said.

The college's San Ramon campus was not affected and classes were in session Thursday.
