Who's Trashing Dinosaur Hill?
Residents in the area say the park is regularly littered with cans, bottles, cigarette butts and more.
One of the most scenic spots in Pleasant Hill is being desecrated by trash, locals say.
Dinosaur Hill Park, 13 acres of open hillside and trails with an expansive view of Mount Diablo, has long been abused by litterers who leave behind beer bottles, cigarette butts and food packaging, according to resident Laura Huszar.
Huszar, who says she lives next to Dinosaur Hill, posted on the Pleasant Hill Patch Facebook page stating that her husband Tony runs the hillside every other day and "never fails to come home with at least one bag filled with garbage."
"You would not believe some of things he's found!" she says.
Trash on the hillside Tuesday afternoon included broken glass, beer bottles, bottle caps, cigarette butts, two empty bottles of vodka, a spoon and three cups from a frozen yogurt place in town, a chip bag and napkins, among other pieces of litter.
"I know people go up there to relax and enjoy the beautiful view, but please, there are garbage cans and even recycle cans in the parking lot," said Huszar "Don't just chuck your empty cans, bottles, and lord knows what — glass breaks, people and animals step on it, your trash destroys the beauty of the park and it's just plain rude."
Huszar added that she is grateful to her husband for "being diligent, caring and helping to keep Dinosaur Park clean."
Dinosaur Hill Park is located off Taylor Boulevard. A small parking lot and entrance to the park can be accessed by northbound traffic.
