Check out this house in Pleasanton that sits on more than 6 acres

You get what you pay for, the old saying goes.

That's true for homes as much as anything.

With that in mind, we thought we'd take a look this week at houses that cost more per square foot that most homes in their area.

There are a lot of reasons for the higher price tag. Location is probably the main reason. There can also be amenities as well as the size of the yard.

In Pleasanton, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 1157 Happy Valley Road is listed at $3.2 million.

It's 2,000 square feet, which means its cost more than $1,600 per square foot.

The residence sits on 6.2 acres and is touted as a property that can be subdivided and have more homes built on it.
