Ramona Teams Sweep AWANA Games Competition

The Ramona teams that competed in the recent AWANA Games, held on, Feb. 23 at the Ramona High School gym, swept their competition.

Both the Sparky team (Kindergarten through 2nd graders) and the Truth & Training team (3rd—6th graders) won their respective divisions, taking home gold medals and setting many new records.

The AWANA Games bring together clubs from all over the San Diego area to compete in the events practiced each week during club. These events, which require coordination and team work, include the Bean Bag Relay, Sprint Relay, Three-Legged race, Tug of war, Bean Bag Grab, Bean Bag Bonanza, Marathon Relay, Marathon Race, and the Balloon Relay.

The Ramona girl’s T&T team set new records in the Bean Bag Relay (Helena, Faith, Natalee, Ryan and Sidney), Bean Bag Bonanza (Helena, Faith, Natalee, Ryan and Sidney), Sprint Relay (Jadyn Hogan, Jocelyn Vail, and Helena Brown) and Balloon Relay (Faith, Ryan, Natalee, Jocelyn, and Helena).

AWANA, derived from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15, is an international, non-demoninational, evangical organization founded in 1950 with the mission to help churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ.
