Attempted Robbery Suspects Arrested in Stater Bros. Parking Lot

An alleged attempt to rob a man in his yard on Durgin Street led to a car chase that ended in the grocery store parking lot.

Shoppers going in and out of Stater Bros. on Thursday were surprised to see sheriff's deputies making arrests in the parking lot.

Two men suspected of trying to rob a man at his home in the 200 block of Durgin Street in Ramona were stopped in their vehicle outside the store.

Initially, the deputies had been following a lead that the men might be armed, so they went into high-risk vehicle stop mode. The incident happened just before 11:30 a.m.

Chris Acheson and Mark Viehman were arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail for attempted robbery, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department. Viehman had an additional charge of driving under the influence.
