Authorities ID Harley-Davidson Rider Killed in SR-79 Crash Near Warner Springs

The 59-year-old Murrieta man apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crossed into oncoming traffic, authorities say.

WARNER SPRINGS, CA: Authorities have publicly identified a 59-year-old Riverside County man killed in a motorcycle crash on a winding stretch of state Route 79 near Warner Springs.

David Emory McDaniel of Murrieta apparently lost control of his Harley-Davidson in the southbound lane approaching Chihuahua Valley Road early Tuesday afternoon and crossed into oncoming traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

McDaniel's bike slammed into the front of a Ford E350 camper, despite attempts by its driver, a 34-year-old German man, to hit the brakes and swerve out of the way, authorities said. McDaniel was ejected and died at the scene.
