Chariot Fire Resident, Animal Evacuation Information

According to San Diego County, evacuations from the Chariot Fire have increased to include another 115 residences and 60 businesses. At around 2 p.m., the Sheriff's Department sent out an emergency alert call to notify residents that the wind was blowing the 3,000-acre fire toward the Laguna Townsite.

Because of this, residents are being directed to evacuate to 2001 Tavern Rd. in Alpine where American Red Cross disaster workers have transitioned the "temporary evacuation point" into an overnight shelter at Joan MacQueen Middle School.

According to the American Red Cross, the shelter is providing immediate needs of those affected, including a safe place to stay, food and clothing, emotional support and health services. It will remain open until all residents can be relocated or return to their homes.
