A driver and a passenger were killed in a fiery, solo car crash off a rural road in Ramona, authorities said.

RAMON, CA — A driver and a passenger were killed in a fiery, solo car crash off a rural road in Ramona, authorities said Monday.
The wreck happened at 5:05 p.m. Sunday on San Vicente Road west of Wildcat Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said.
A white Chevrolet Camaro was heading eastbound on San Vicente Road at a high speed when, for unknown reasons, the unidentified driver allowed the vehicle to cross into the westbound lane, then continue off the northern edge of the roadway, Garrow said. The car continued in that direction, then struck several trees and caught fire.

The driver and an unidentified passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said.
No details about the victims were available and it was not clear if intoxication was a factor in the crash.
