Recreational shooting sparked the conflagration—dubbed the General Fire due to its proximity to a landmark general store in the area—south of state Route 78 and east of state Route 79 about noon Sunday.
The flames mostly moved in an easterly direction, toward desert terrain, according to the state agency.
