General Fire Burns 900 Acres; Full Containment Expected Wednesday

Full containment is expected Wednesday and more than 1,200 firefighters were deployed to the scene, with one injury.

A fire in San Diego County has burned 980 acres and is 70 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.

No structures were threatened by the so-called General Fire, which was called in after noon on Sunday, according to Cal Fire.

The fire is in the Banner Grade area, south of Highway 78 and east of Highway 79, southeast of Julian, according to Cal Fire.

Full containment was expected Wednesday, Cal Fire reported. The state firefighting agency, which deployed 1,217 firefighters on the incident, also reported one injury Tuesday morning but released no details.

Cal Fire Captain Mike Mohler, Public Information Officer for the San Diego Unit, said the blaze was separate from the San Felipe Fire, which blackened about 2,780 acres of desert north of Scissors Crossing. The San Felipe Fire was fully contained Monday.

The General Fire's cause remained under investigation, Mohler said.No injuries were reported, according to Cal Fire.
