MARIN COUNTY, CA — Some frigid mornings and nights are on tap for Marin County this week, with the coldest temperatures sinking to 36 degrees in Novato, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday night and early Saturday morning will bring the coldest temperatures down to 39 degrees in Mill Valley, 39 degrees in San Rafael, 40 degrees in Fairfax, 40 degrees in San Anselmo and 36 degrees in Novato.

The warmest day will be Thanksgiving on Thursday with a high near 67 in most areas, with some light winds.

Areas sheltered from the wind could fall into the 20s to low 30s, but widespread freezing temperatures are not forecast, NWS officials said.

A cold front will also move through the area earlier in the week, on Wednesday, bringing with it light rain in some areas.

Despite cold morning temperatures Thursday through Sunday, afternoon temperatures are expected to gradually rise over the same period, according to NWS officials.
