Nathan Cherek Leads Ramona Over West Hills—and into CIF Semifinals
Picked to lose by East County Sports, the host Bulldogs overwhelm the Wolf Pack 41-21.
Junior running back Nathan Cherek didn’t get the memo that his Bulldogs were 1-point underdogs Friday to West Hills High School of Santee. Instead, he scored three touchdowns in leading host Ramona High School into the CIF Division III semifinals with a 41-21 victory over the Wolf Pack.
“No question this is the best game I’ve had so far,” Nathan told U-T San Diego. “Our best play that kept working over and over was the 52-Paint; it’s sort of a draw play. Two of my touchdowns came on that play.”
On Friday night, coach Damon Baldwin's Ramona team (8-3) will host Serra High School, which got a bye into the game after CIF San Diego disqualified powerhouse Cathedral Catholic for using an ineligible player. West Hills, coached by Tay Sneddon, finished the season at 7-5.
