Road Closures in Ramona: What To Expect During Tour of California

Pro cyclists will be rolling down Main Street and racing across North County this weekend during the Amgen Tour of California. How will it affect roads and what can Ramonans do to help plan around the race route?

According to the U-T San Diego, local officials have planned a series of “rolling” road closures along the 103-mile route that are expected to last 30 to 45 minutes each.

Streets will be blocked off several minutes before the cyclists are expected to pass through and re-opened a few minutes after the have flown by, the paper reported.

Closures affecting streets in the San Pasqual Valley area and Ramona (Main Street) are expected to happen sometime around noon, according to the U-T.

Streets near Julian and Lake Henshaw will be affected next.

Ramona's Main Street is the first leg of the race, which begins at 11:15 a.m. on May 12. Spectators can line up along the shops on Main to watch. Dudley's Bakery in Julian is another great place to catch the cycling action.
