[Updated] 15-Acre Wildfire Off Wildcat Canyon Road Contained
The cause of the fire, which may have begun at a shooting range, is under investigation.

A wildfire broke out Monday afternoon off Wildcat Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol reported, resulting in the closure of the road at San Vicente Road, near the San Diego Country Estates.
Authorities reported the five-acre fire at around 3:15 p.m. on the west side of Wildcat Canyon Road, at Barona Road—about two miles north of Barona Casino.

CHP closed the windy road at both San Vicente Road and the casino. A SigAlert was issued around 3:35 p.m. for Wildcat Canyon Road between Founders Way and San Vicente, CHP said.
Residents were still being allowed through.

Around 4:30 p.m., the fire had grown to about 15 acres, Cal Fire said, but there were no immediate reports of structural threats.
Ground and airborne personnel are fighting the flames. Authorities say the fire may have started at a shooting range.
Cal Fire reported they had halted the forward spread of the fire around 4:30 p.m.
CHP Officer Robert Catano said residents should expect the road to be reopened around 7 or 7:30 p.m., after the firefighters are done with their "mop up."
