High Society Jazz Band to Showcase Early Jazz Style of New Orleans

The High Society Jazz Band will present a concert of Dixieland and New Orleans Jazz at 6:15 pm Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Rancho Bernardo Library. The band consists of six musicians playing piano, string bass, drums, trumpet, trombone and clarinet/sax.
This concert will emphasize the early jazz style of New Orleans - the birthplace of jazz. This style of music is often called Dixieland, traditional, classic, or New Orleans jazz. It features lively tunes with catchy melodies and lots of interaction and improvisation by the musicians. The band is a sextet of accomplished and highly regarded musicians from the San Diego area.
This free concert is presented by the Friends of the Rancho Bernardo Library and will be in the library’s 2nd floor community room. Donations are appreciated to cover the costs of the musicians.
