The following was reported by Robin Kaufman:
I received a call from Battalion Chief Froelich inviting me to come over to the fire location to walk me through and give me details so that I could supply proper information to everyone. While there, two men and one woman were being interviewed by police/fire as they apparently witnessed the beginning of the fire.
Casa de las Campanas has done a wonderful job with defensible space. Between that, low winds, low humidity, and quick action of our first responders, the fire was kept at 10 acres.

There were 90 fire fighters, 11 fire vehicles (engines and brush rigs), and two helicopters that fought the fire. A couple of rigs and several fire fighters will stay over night to handle any flair ups, etc.
Caltrans was also on site, reviewing any damage done to their barriers so that they can replace them in a timely manner.

Hats off to our wonderful first responders! The Rancho Bernardo Community Council will be holding a First Responder Appreciation BBQ/Lunch September 29. We hope many of our residents will attend to thank the first responders first hand for all they do for our community. Promotions for the event will begin mid-August.
