Frye and Attorneys Stand By Call for Filner to Resign

Attorney Marco Gonzalez tweets that he, the former councilwoman and another Filner critic were not persuaded by the mayor's video apology Thursday.

Three former supporters of Mayor Bob Filner who have called for him to resign amid sexual harassment allegations are not backing down from their demands despite the apology the mayor released via video Thursday, according to one ex-supporter.

Attorney Marco Gonzalez said Friday via Twitter that he, ex-Councilwoman Donna Frye and attorney Cory Briggs "stand by (their) original demand, video notwithstanding."

Gonzalez said additional information would be provided next week.

The trio of former Filner supporters sent letters to the mayor earlier this week urging him to step down following the allegations of sexual harassment. They reiterated their call for his resignation in a news conference Thursday morning, although they declined to release details of the claims.

Within hours, Filner had released a statement via DVD that stated in part, "as someone who has spent a lifetime fighting for equality for all people, I am embarrassed to admit that I have failed to fully respect the women who work for me and with me, and that at times I have intimidated them."
