If your thoughts are turning to highlights and beachy waves, you're not the only one, says stylist and shop owner Amparo Gallegos.

Spring is finally here.

For many women and their hair that means lighter, blonder hair with more highlights, said Amparo Gallegos, owner of a salon at Rancho Bernardo Town Center.

“Usually they start changing from dark hair to a little bit lighter,” said Gallegos, who has owned the shop for two years.

Color isn't the only thing that may need a change, Gallegos said. Women get the urge to cut long hair to medium length and medium-length locks to shorter styles.
