Judge Enters Not Guilty Plea on Behalf of James Holmes
San Diego native James Holmes is accused of killing 12 and wounding about 70.

A judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of San Diego native and Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes on Tuesday.
The judge said Holmes can "change his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity later," according to a KSTP.com report.
Holmes, whose family lives in Rancho Peñasquitos, is accused of killing 12 and wounding about 70 on July 20 in Aurora, Colo. during a The Dark Knight Rises screening.

He is charged with 166 counts and could face the death penalty.
Holmes, 25, is a 2006 graduate of Westview High School who holds a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from the . He graduated from the school in spring of 2010, according to officials.
