Friends of the RB Library Kick Off 2018-2019 Concert Season with Performance by Eminent San Diego Guitarist

Fred Benedetti, an esteemed guitarist in the San Diego area, will present a romantic classical and flamenco guitar performance at 6:15 pm Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Rancho Bernardo Library. This free concert kicks off the Friends of the RB Library 2018-2019 Classical and Jazz Concert season. Presenting The Guitar from the Renaissance to the Present Day, he will perform on a selection of guitars, including a 19th century heirloom. His program will include Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Memories of the Alhambra), which showcases the challenging guitar technique "tremolo."

Fred has performed throughout the world and locally with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, the Starlight Opera, the American Ballet Company, the Old Globe Theatre, Luciano Pavarotti, and jazz artist Dave Brubeck. He is a full-time professor of music at Grossmont College where he is the head of the guitar studies program and is a faculty member of the guitar program at San Diego State University. Featured on over 100 CD's, numerous movie soundtracks and TV commercials, he has performed with everyone from Willie Nelson to Art Garfunkel.

The concert will be in the Rancho Bernardo Library Community Room, 17110 Bernardo Center Drive. There is no charge and tickets are not required. Donations are encouraged to cover the costs of the musicians.
