Tossing Cigarette Out Car Window . . . NO-O-O!!!!!

Fire Season is Almost Here -- 66 Million Dead Trees -- Don't Be the Cause of 2019 Fires! Think Before You Act!

As the weather warms up and we enter fire season, it is important to think about our actions. Here is one person's experience:

"Two Fires, in two days, and people still don’t think it might be a BAD idea to toss their cigarette butt out the window? First off, to the lady on Carmel Mountain Road/Interstate 15 ... about to head North, in the dark Honda CRV ( who turned into Vista Del Lago ), SHAME on you for tossing your Cigarette butt out your window! I was in the car behind you. This is the 2nd time today I’ve been behind someone tossing out a lit cigarette from a moving vehicle. It’s irresponsible and we don’t need another fire!" -- Katie Ryan

"66 million dead trees: California epidemic to create 'dire' wildfire situation in coming years"-- Kevin Byrne, AccuWeather.com Staff Writer

NFPA’s Wildfire Division provides resources to residents and stakeholders to help ensure that everyone living at risk from wildfire has the information, knowledge, and tools to reduce their risk.

Every year, wildfires burn across the United States, and a growing number of people are living where wildfires are a real risk. In 2018 more than 58,000 fires burned nearly nine million acres across the U.S. More than 25,000 structures were destroyed, including 18,137 residences and 229 commercial structures. California accounted for the highest number of structures lost in one state due to the number of significant fires, including the Mendocino Complex, Carr, Camp and Woolsey fires.
