"Birds come to land, when a storm is at hand."
Did you know birds can sense when a storm is coming?
Birds have pressure sensitive organs in their ears that detect low pressure, which is frequently associated with a coming storm. They don't like to fly, because it throws off their equilibrium, so they will settle on land. You will notice more birds on light posts, and on balconies, and on other places they can wait out the storm.
