Woman Dies In Amtrak Fatality

A woman was fatally struck between the Anaheim and Fullerton lines, it was reported Tuesday.

ANAHEIM, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train between the Anaheim and Fullerton stations Tuesday. Commutes halted during the follow up investigation, according to authorities.

The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m., when the pedestrian was struck, according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink, and State College Boulevard was closed in both directions between Katella and Howell avenues.

The Pacific Surfliner train, with 103 passengers aboard, was on its way from Los Angeles to San Diego at the time, said Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin. None of the passengers or crew members were injured, she said.

The Amtrak train was stopped in between the stations due to the fatality, halting Metrolink train service in the area until the track was cleared at 2:55 p.m., according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink, which bused commuters around the idle train.

Anaheim police were called to the scene at 11:45 a.m., said Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt. The female victim had not been identified as of early Tuesday evening. It was not known how she came to the edge of the track.
