"The funds will also provide wheelchair repair, lifesaving flu shots and MDA summer camp for special-needs kids," said Jenny Price, spokeswoman for the event. "Most importantly, donations collected during this year’s “Fill-The-Boot” campaign will fund research to help find a cure for 43 neuromuscular diseases."

The fundraising effort also supports Major League Baseball’s “4♦ALS” initiative to raise awareness and support for the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

"July 4, 2014 marked the 75th Anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s Luckiest Man Alive Speech," Price said. "In recognition, Major League Baseball and all 30 Clubs joined together for “4♦ALS.” Building on MLB’s longstanding commitment to ALS awareness."

All Clubs are dedicating a day in 2016 to “4♦ALS" according to release.

"Later in the season, the Angels will host their “4♦ALS Day” at Angel Stadium as the wives and firefighters will present the funds from the “Fill the Boot” campaign to MDA during a pregame ceremony," Price said. "The Angels will also donate tickets to that night’s game to MDA for ALS patients and their families."

The donations will also provide wheelchair repair, flu shots and MDA summer camp for special-needs children and fund research to help find cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases.

The fundraiser will begin at 5 p.m. and run through the end of the second inning outside of the Diamond Club, and Angel Stadium's Home Plate Gate and gates 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8.
