“Nico was a devoted husband and father, a great friend, a football fan, a hard worker and a talented grill master. We know that his enthusiasm and generous spirit will live on through Landon and Brynn,” says a page on GoFundMe.

“Because we know so many people want to do something, we have set up this donation site,” the website says. In eight days (at time of publication), friends and family have raised $28,450 of a $35,000 goal.

A service was held Tuesday.

“So many spoke of him during the service and used the words loving, happy, wonderful father, leader, great husband, funny, generous and even a bit wild and gossipy! You were a total package Nico - and we love you. You and your family will forever be in our hearts,” says an update at GoFundMe.
