Curry Up Now Opens First SoCal Eatery In O.C.
The fast-growing chain puts funky twist on Indian cuisine with Tikka Masala Burritos, Naughty Naan & more. Don't miss grand-opening freebies
IRVINE, CA — Curry Up Now, a rapidly-expanding, Indian restaurant chain that started with a single food truck in 2009 in the San Francisco area, next week will celebrate the grand opening of its first Southern California locale — at the Irvine Spectrum Center — with freebies for the first 100 patrons.
On a mission to serve Indian food with a unique spin, the fast-casual eateries are known for such zinger dishes as Tikka Masala Burritos, Deconstructed Samosas, Sexy Fries and Naughty Naan, plus tacos, bowls, traditional dishes and street-food snacks.
“As a San Francisco-based company, we’ve had our eyes on Southern California expansion for quite some time, so we’re very excited to introduce our imaginative, playful and innovative menu to the people of Orange County and Irvine,” said Akash Kapoor, who co-founded the operation with his wife, Rana.

The local restaurant will be run by franchisees Vishal Chopra and Manpreet Behl, who said Irvine’s diverse food scene is a perfect match for Curry Up Now.
The Irvine locale, at 922 Spectrum Center Drive, will give away a free burrito or bowl, beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 29, to the first 100 customers in line to celebrate the new restaurant.

The eatery is open Sundays to Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Curry Up Now empire now includes three food trucks, eight brick-and-mortar restaurants primarily in California, and a globally-inspired craft cocktail bar concept, Mortar & Pestle, that is housed within select Curry Up Now restaurants. More than 12 locations are expected to open in 2020, including in Sacramento and Utah, officials said.
