Deadly Crash Closes Part Of Northbound 241 Toll Road

Another person involved in the crash was treated for minor injuries.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — One person died Friday morning in a crash that closed several lanes of northbound 241 Toll Road just south of the Windy Ridge Toll Plaza.

According to a collision report from the California Highway Patrol, a Ford van was stopped on 241, just south of the toll plaza, when it was struck from behind by a Ford F450 truck that was traveling around 75 mph.

The force of the crash ejected one person from the van. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person in the van was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the F450 truck stopped on the right shoulder of the road after the crash, authorities said. Alcohol or drugs are believed to have been a factor in the crash.

The victim’s name will not be released until his or her family is notified, police said.
