Early Morning Brush Fire Ignites Along 241 Freeway, 1 Injured

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A brush fire burned part of an unincorporated area of Orange County. Approximately one acre was scorched in the Wednesday morning blaze.

The fire was reported about 3:35 a.m. at the 241 Toll Road just south of Irvine Park, according to the Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Thanh Nguyen.

A total of 60 firefighters are on scene and making progress against the flames, Nguyen said.

"One firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze," he said. No structures are threatened, and no evacuations were ordered during the incident.

"Mop up and hand crews will remain in the area, putting out hot spots," he said.

Investigators are currently identifying the cause of the fire, and Patch will update this report when more information is received.
