Rancho Santa Margarita Pee Wee Football Team Advances to Hawaii Championships

Pee Wee Football team from South Orange County advances to the championships in Hawaii.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The Santa Margarita Pop Warner Pee Wee Cowboys have won the Wescon Regional Semi Finals and have advanced to the Championship game in Kauai, Hawaii.

The Cowboys are comprised of 11-13 year old boys all from South Orange County and are coached by Mission Viejo High School Alum, Robert Badraun. The boys have developed a high powered rushing attack that has kept them nearly unstoppable this season.

Gage Burnett, an 11-year-old Ladera Ranch resident who plays Left Tackle and Defensive Tackle was asked about the experience.

“This team was made for a high level of competition. Remember our names!" Gage said. "You will be sure reading about us all again in the future.”

The SMPW Cowboys represented South County against the San Diego San Carlos Patriots in Arizona. An aggressive showing from the Patriots wasn’t enough to best the SMPW Cowboys. The Cowboys won the Quarter finals 42-12.
