Rescue Crews Treat Hiker for Heat Exhaustion in RSM
As temperatures rise, so do the risks of heat exhaustion.

A 55-year-old man hiking in the Live Oak Canyon Trail area Sunday morning was overcome by heat exhaustion and treated by rescue crews at a nearby command post, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
After being treated with fluids the man felt better and declined a ride to a hospital, said Capt. Jon Muir.
Rescue crews from the OCFA and Cleveland National Forest responded to the call at 9:50 a.m. near Celeste and Altisima. The man was a mile into the hike in hot weather, Muir said.

A helicopter responded to the rescue but the hiker was able to walk to a command post where he was treated.
Above-normal temperatures are in the forecast through Wednesday, and Muir said hikers should be prepared and bring plenty of water. Â
