Robert Shipma, a junior at Trabuco Hills High, recently combined an Eagle Scout service project with his local National Honor Society project to beautify Boys Town California’s Cherry Family home in Trabuco Canyon.
Boys Town California is a charity that helps abused and neglected children build a better life for themselves.
Shipma first raised more than $2,000 to purchase supplies for his Eagle Project. Then, Robert and his 35 volunteers spent over 200 combined hours replacing and adding sprinklers, removing weeds, laying mesh to keep gophers from making dangerous holes, covering the mesh with soil, laying sod and installing pavers.
Then he and National Honor Society students at Trabuco Hills High School spent four hours each making 12 stained-glass stepping stones that were also installed at Boys Town California’s Cherry Family home.
