RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Yes, they invented the edible poop emoji doughnut at The Doughnut Parlor, which pretty well sums up the life and times during the new coronavirus pandemic.

Owner Adam Vaun, who also owns DK's Donuts in Orange, perfected the poop emoji doughnut that is still being baked, daily.

He thanked the community for their support during the shutdowns designed to stop the spread of the highly contagious illness, commonly known as COVID-19, that has infected over 150 Orange County residents thus far. Small businesses have gone into a tailspin as shopkeepers attempt to pivot sales and strategies to stay open and pay their employees.

"Thank you for the continued support from our community during this difficult time," Vaun wrote on Instagram.

They are changing the store's business hours to 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting on Wednesday.

Customers are still showing up to fill up boxes of doughnuts, daily, they say. People come to purchase frosted unicorns, spring chicks and Easter bunnies, and of course, the poop emoji doughnuts.

The famous chocolate cake doughnut, slathered with chocolate icing and mounded with swirled chocolate buttercream frosting "to act as poop," Vaun stated. "Those eyeballs are edible too as they're made of candy."

Vaun began in the doughnut baking business over 32 years ago at the DK's Donuts store, with his parents.

"The Poop Emoji doughnut is our most popular doughnut," Vaun said.
