See What HangTime Rollercoaster Is Like At Knott's Berry Farm

The HangTime rollercoaster opened Friday at Knott's Berry Farm. With corkscrew twists, turns & the steepest drop in CA. Will you ride it?

BUENA PARK, CA — It's what you've been waiting for, Knott's Berry Farm fans. On Friday, thrill-seekers will have the opportunity to try out the theme park's newest roller coaster, Hang Time. Riders will experience speeds up to 60 miles-per-hour, a zero-g free floating pause, followed by rocketing the looping coaster track across the park. But best of all?

Hang Time is billed as having the steepest coaster drop in California.

"HangTime’s ride structure itself will come to life and illuminate the Boardwalk area with colorful nighttime track chase lighting that will accompany the coaster train’s travels across the smooth steel track," a spokesman said. "The coaster continues Knott’s legacy in rollercoaster innovation and industry firsts; the park introduced the very first corkscrew inversion rollercoaster with Corkscrew, and the first flywheel launch coaster with Montezooma's Revenge."

HangTime begins by lifting riders to the top of a 15-story peak, where it comes to an eerie pause before plummeting into a 96-degree drop, billed as the steepest in the state.

As it moves through 2,189 feet of track at speeds pushing 60 mph, riders will find themselves inverted five times. And they'll also be treated to a "negative-g stall loop," giving riders the sensation of floating.

Knott's officials said HangTime is only the second roller coaster in the Western Hemisphere to include such a feature.
