CALIFORNIA — Friday, July 31 is the avocado's day to shine: National Avocado Day 2020.

And for California avo-fans, guacamole and avocado freebies are up for grabs this year from Rubio's Coastal Grill, Chipotle and WaBa Grill restaurants.

At Chipotle, Rewards members, including those who join by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, can get free guacamole added to purchases through Aug. 2. Orders must be placed via the Chipotle mobile app or online at the website here. At checkout, scroll to the “top it off” section, not the “sides” section, and add the National Avocado Day reward. See details here.

At Mexican-style, seafood chain Rubio's, patrons can receive a free serving of freshly made chips and guacamole with any order. The San Diego-based chain makes its guacamole onsite daily, using Hass avocados, cilantro, garlic, lime juice and natural sea salt.

To redeem the offer, use this coupon. The deal is for one coupon per person, and does not apply to third-party delivery or with other specials. Customers are advised to confirm participation with their area restaurants. Find all Rubio's locales here.

At Southern California-founded WaBa Grill restaurants, Rewards App members can order up a free avocado half — dubbed in-house as the "Half-Ocado" — with every entrée purchase through Aug. 2. The offer can be redeemed on Grubhub and Uber Eats, and, for a limited time, free delivery is offered on orders placed via WaBa Rewards App or the eatery website.

Also on Friday's National Avocado Day, WaBa Rewards members will receive triple points on orders more than $20.

“Our signature Half-Ocado has always been a popular addition to our bowls, plates and salads, and along with properly honoring this delicious superfood we wanted to reward WaBa fans for making the conscious decision to eat heathy,” said Mark Finnegan, WaBa Grill vice president of marketing and technology.

“Why limit the avocado celebration to one day?” he said.
