4 Injured, 2 Arrested In Chain-reaction Crashes On Highway 101
All northbound lanes were shut down on Highway 101 early Sunday morning, snarling traffic north of Marsh Road.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — A multi-car chain-reaction crash early Sunday morning resulted in the closure of all lanes on northbound U.S. Highway 101 and four people injured and two drivers arrested for being under the influence, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP responded to the complex incident at 2:36 a.m. on the major artery north of Marsh Road and discovered that 20-year-old Ricardo Hernandez of Redwood City, lost control of a 2006 Honda and careened into the center divider. The Honda came to a rest in the traffic lanes, and its occupants had to be extricated before a 2018 BMW driven by Sukhvinder Singh, 28, of San Francisco struck the Honda.
A Honda Civic driven by Timothy Chua, 40, of South San Francisco, negotiated stop from behind before hitting the other two vehicles only to be rear-ended by a 2014 Jeep driven by Maria Guzman, 18, of East Palo Alto.

Chua drove away from the area to avoid being struck again, exiting at Woodside Road to wait for officers at the scene but was also hit by a Dodge Dart driven by Miguel Torres, 21, of South San Francisco,
Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of DUI after being treated at San Mateo General Hospital.

Chelsea Ochoa, 19, of San Jose suffered major head trauma and Angelo Clavel, 21, of Redwood City, suffered moderate head and leg injuries. Both were transported to Stanford Medical Center. The third passenger, Kitzia Viedas, 18, of Redwood City, had minor injuries and was
released at the scene.
Guzman was also arrested for suspicion of DUI.
