Attempted Murder Suspect Who Stabbed Neighbor Arrested: SMC D.A.

According to San Mateo County prosecutors, the men apparently knew each other well when the incident occurred on Flynn Ave. in Redwood City.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man accused of stabbing his neighbor Monday afternoon in Redwood City has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, San Mateo County prosecutors said Thursday.

The two men are friends, and 22-year-old Anthony Joseph Machuca was visiting the 58-year-old victim's home in the 500 block of Flynn Avenue, near Middlefield Road in Redwood City. Investigators say Machuca stabbed the man four or five times without provocation at some point in the visit. The victim suffered serious internal injuries that required surgery.

Machuca is being held without bail. He appeared in court for an arraignment Wednesday, but no plea was entered and the matter was postponed until an attorney can be appointed.
