Chamber of Commerce Makes It Official

After serving as Interim President and CEO for almost two months, Amy Buckmaster was selected to be the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce's new President and CEO, effective immediately.

The Chamber's Executive Committee said it "established an objective selection process before choosing the 20-year organizational management professional."

Buckmaster has been with the Chamber since 1993, most recently as the Vice President for Programs and Marketing.

Chamber Chairman of the Board Stacey Wagner said, "The independent interview panel, as well as the Chamber's Executive Committee, were unanimous in their selection of Amy due to her enthusiasm and commitment to the continued success of this organization. Amy has the passion and drive to ensure the continued growth and stature that the Chamber has earned over the years."

In a statement Wednesday, Buckmaster said, "I am so honored that the leadership of this organization has put their confidence in me to lead the Chamber."

"When I began working at the Chamber, it was an entry-level position. Today, I am their new President and CEO. It means so much to me," she added.

In speaking about the Chamber and its future, Buckmaster said, "My tenure in association management has always led me to believe that the membership is the owner of the organization, and the staff work for the membership. We have a dynamic organization - a strong professional board, amazing members, and fantastic staff. Looking to the future, we need to engage the next generation of business leaders while maintaining those businesses that have laid the groundwork."

Buckmaster said her goals for the future include building the membership with industry-specific companies who have chosen Redwood City or San Mateo County as their business home; collaborating with other leading organizations to increase the overall impact of the business community countywide; sharing the knowledge and value of the business community with local youth so they are better prepared for the workforce needs of the future; and expanding the Chamber's volunteer base.

Buckmaster grew up in San Carlos and is a graduate of Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, and she is proud to currently call Redwood City her home.
