CZI Accepting Funding Applications From Philanthropic Groups

The community fund benefits nonprofit groups serving needs in Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, East Palo Alto and Belle Haven.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Here's to spreading goodness across the San Francisco Peninsula. CZI is accepting applications for its community fund, which started in 2017.

The CZI Community Fund supports organizations in Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, Belle Haven and East Palo Alto that are helping to address the needs of the local community. Each year-long grant from CZI ranges from $25,000 to $100,000 to support these community-led organizations.

Applications will be accepted on CZI’s website: chanzuckerberg.com/community/fund through Sept. 12.

Since its launch in 2017, the community fund of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has supported more than 60 local organizations. Grantees have included groups running after school programs for children, providing warm meals and shelter to our homeless neighbors, and advocating for sustainable and inclusive community development.

Founded by Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg in 2015, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is a new kind of philanthropy that's leveraging technology to help solve some of the world's toughest challenges — including eradicating disease, improving education and reforming the criminal justice system.

With its 11 locations, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula was a recipient of the fund last year. CZI helped fund a reading program at Hoover Middle School in Redwood City and a gardening project nearby at the teen center.
