DUI Suspect Dies In Collision With San Mateo Co. Sheriff Vehicle
The man ran from officers across Highway 101 before being struck and killed by an oncoming sheriff's vehicle.
BURLINGAME, CA — A man was struck and killed in a collision with a San Mateo County Sheriff vehicle on Highway 101 Tuesday night after running from authorities who were about to arrest him on suspicion of DUI.
According to a news release, CHP officers from the Redwood City area advised the driver of a disabled vehicle on the right shoulder on US-101 southbound, north of Broadway in Burlingame, that he was being placed under arrest after showing signs of intoxication. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
The man then ran from the officers across the southbound lanes, through the median and into the northbound lanes, where he was hit by an oncoming sheriff's vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
