REDWOOD CITY, CA — To keep business alive during this summer's coronavirus pandemic, a slew of Redwood City restaurants are heading outside, adding open-air dining spaces and joining the “Eat, Sip & Be in RWC” experience.

Participating restaurants, many family owned and operated, still are struggling amid COVID-19 restrictions on in-house dining. The "Eat, Sip & Be in RWC" promotion, launched by Redwood City Improvement Association, runs daily through September and aims to allow "restaurants to expand outdoor seating, some of which had none at all," the organization said.

For locals, that means more places to eat out, with multiple, traditional and international cuisine options in cozy, yet socially distanced, settings akin to Italian al-fresco piazzas.

Distancing protocols are in place at the city's open-air eateries, along with multiple, newly installed, hand-sanitizer stations. Patrons are required to wear face masks when not seated, and reservations are recommended.
