Facebook Cancels Conference Amid Coronavirus Fears
The Global Marketing Summit, planned March 9-12, was expected to pump $11 million into the local economy, according to reports.

MENLO PARK, CA — Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg this week announced the company would cancel its Global Marketing Summit due to concerns regarding coronavirus and its continued spread. The conference was scheduled to take place March 9-12 at the Moscone Center, according to reports.
The event was poised draw about 5,000 people who would pump approximately $11 million into San Francisco's economy, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Anthony Harrison, a Facebook spokesman, told the Chronicle the company canceled the event "out of an abundance of caution."
San Francisco District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin told KTVU that he's disappointed Facebook is pandering to fear.
