Family-Friendly 'Taste Of Science' Underway On Peninsula
Youngsters and grown-ups can create art with bacteria, extract their own DNA and even enjoy a comedy-improv science night.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – The "Taste of Science" festival, a nationwide effort to promote scientific interest and research, is underway on the Peninsula, with interactive events coming up in Redwood City, Menlo Park and Palo Alto.
Sponsored by Scientists, Inc., the project offers various activities that will appeal to youngsters and adults, alike. Most tickets are $7, and children, 6 and under, are free.

NeuroNight: Tuesday, April 24, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Arts Ventures Gallery, 888 Santa Cruz Ave., Menlo Park, CA, 94025.
- "Join us for a discussion on brain, neurological syndromes and the future of neurosciences, with two great neuroscientists- Don Vaughn and Elizabeth Seckel. Kishore Hari, Bay area Science Festival director and popular science event host, will be our special guest for the evening and will moderate the discussion."
Science Improv: Wednesday, April 25, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Freewheel Brewing Co., 3736 Florence St., Redwood City, CA, 94063

- "Make Your Own Damn Sandwich presents 'She Blinded Me with Science,' an improv show. Our team of wonderful improvisers will put together a show for you, on YOUR favorite science topics. Come with a head full of ideas and watch them get transformed into an act. If you ever wanted to go on stage, you might even get an opportunity to star in your own show!"
When Art meets Science: Friday, April 27, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Gallery House, 320 California Ave., Palo Alto, CA, 94306
- "This event will be an amalgamation of science and art. Create your own piece of art with bacteria, paint with Bioink, sketch microscopic organisms, make mycelium necklaces, win a hand knitted hat based on your favorite science topic (and maybe learn to knit as well) and much more."

- "Are you fascinated by the idea of mad scientists doing crazy experiments in a laboratory? This will be your opportunity to find your hidden scientist. You can extract your own DNA and take it home in a DNA necklace, see and learn how plants breathe, see DNA, experience how illusions can trick your brain (for a good cause), enter inside a 3D protein structure through virtual reality, artificial intelligence for prosthetics and lot more. Plus, your favorite science rapper will be there for you again!"
